The August Born Presidents in Rhyme

August 14, 2019

Ben, grandson of a President,

As mild mannered as Clark Kent,

By Grover Cleveland was preceded

And by the same also succeeded.

Herbert was an engineer,

A do-gooder, and sincere

In his belief the Great Depression

Was just a transient digression.

Lyndon went to Viet Nam,

But pulled back ere he had it won.

The Great Society became

His pathway to deserved acclaim.

Bill received a budget surplus

From an opposition Congress;

Procured his wife a Senate seat,

And got acquitted when impeached.

Barrack was against the war

But killed bin Laden and what’s more

Continued drone strikes everywhere

And left Guatanamo still there.
